R U N T

Runt is a young boy who was born on the coldest, darkest night of the year. He is not very fond of people. nor is he very talkative. You would have better luck observing from a distance. When he was 7, his parents were eaten by a very cruel giant, "Krugor". Runt spent his time befriending animals and teaching himself the druidic rune-language of forest magic. If he could not talk to people, he was determined to talk to creatures. His best friend was his sheep-herding dog, a mutt named "Horse". Horse had a secret: the rune that Runt believed gave Horse the ability to communicate with him actually possessed the sheepdog with a fae spirit--a god named "Lady Gray" who believed Runt to be their son. At age 12, a kind girl only seven years his senior took him under her wing. She was kind, thoughtful, and gentle with him. She took him away from Lady Gray and the giant he was trapped by. From that day, Runt and Sae were inseparable. Until they weren't. Adventuring together and helping those who most needed it, they both grew careless. One night, at age 16, Runt did not keep watch as well as he should have. In the resulting fight with a crew of bandits, Sae was killed. Runt slipped out of the fight, hiding among the wild creatures he once took refuge with. Once more, he lives in the woods, wandering and hunting, a wild beast to be tamed by those who dare approach.
